Hello,
My name is Malcolm Dewey and I am a full-time artist and writer. I have been painting for most of my life. Art in some form has been part of my daily life. I am based in South Africa in a seaside town in the Eastern Cape. I create and sell my paintings to collectors all over the world. My greatest pleasure though is to teach painting to students around the world. This is a wonderful time we live in!
I came up with the idea for the Painterly Workshop out of frustration with the traditional workshop concept. I found that a couple of days was not enough to break bad painting habits. I wanted positive painting development and growth, but this takes time. But not years either. At least not to get the fundamentals worked out. Perfecting them is another matter and is part of a lifelong process.
And to cut a long story short ... the Painterly Workshop was created. It is a dynamic learning experience with a growing community of artists too.
My painting style is a contemporary impressionist one. Landscape is my favorite subject although I am mostly interested in light and color. So any subject that I choose will focus on that aspect. You can view my work on my gallery page here.
